1st Annual FOLK Fall Festival and Bulb Swap
Apples
anyone? Come to the first annual FOLK Fall Festival from 1 until
8 pm on Saturday, October 25, at the
Agrarian
Connections
farm, north of Crawford GA in Oglethorpe County.
There will be live music all day from Josh Rosenstein,
Lera Lynn (of Birds and Wire),
The Roughbark Candyroasters,
The Jumpin' Jesus Christers,
and The Corduroy Road. If you play an instrument
whether it be a mandolin or an accordion you are encouraged
to bring it along and play with other musicians around the campfire. Also don't forget to bring your dancing shoes,
because later in the afternoon the tables and booths will be moved to make room for a contra dance.
Local seasonal food, including barbecue and vegetarian options, will be provided by PLACE.
There will be art and craft booths, a farmers market and bulb/seed
swap, t-shirts, and everything apples—from an apple pie contest to
an apple juicing demonstration—and family-friendly games, arts &
crafts, and face painting. Susannah Chapman and Tad Brown will lead demonstrations and discussions and will give a tour of the heirloom apple orchard at farm.
We encourage you to bring yard apples if you have them!
There will also be an auction to help pay for this event and others like it in the future. The auction will include gift cards and products from Espresso Royal Cafe, Earthfare, The National, East/West Bistro, Gyro Wrap and more.
The FOLK Fall
Festival is produced by Furthering Our Local Knowledge (FOLK) and
Promoting Local Agriculture and Cultural Experience (PLACE). To
register for the apple pie contest or if you are interested in reserving a booth to show/sell arts,
crafts, produce, seeds, bulbs or homemade goods, or to participate in carpooling, contact
us at
folkathens@gmail.com.
Admission to the FOLK Fall Festival is free and open to the public, but a donation would be greatly appreciated and will help us continue to sponsor future colporteurs and events.
